Cá na Serra, meaning 'here in the mountains' in Portuguese, is a piece of architectural art embedded in its environment like a cork tree in the Alentejo landscape. It belongs, but in a surprising way you need to discover slowly.
Its edges and sharp corners from the outside give you the perfect insights into the surrounding nature from the inside.
Inside every piece of furniture, fabric or material used is well thought off and blends in or surprises.
The house lies on the highest point of the plot. Walking down, you encounter the infinity pool, which is the houses little brother. Unusually shaped but perfectly placed to give you the most intense swim 'here in the Serra.
The patio of the house, sheltering you from the Alentejo evening winds, is centered where the old house of the plot used to stand. The new house is built around it, as an homage to the past.
The edgy curves of the house create a dance of shadows and light from sunrise till sunset.
The villa consists of 3 separate units, starting with the garage that has a rooftop terrace. Following, there is the guest unit with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower that connects these two bedrooms. Further, there is the main unit with the master bedroom and a large guestroom aka the 'Mediaroom', where a wall to wall daybed is creating room for the whole family to watch a movie projected on the wall. All top notch equipment for streaming available.
The main unit has a very big living room and dining area with a stunning view into the Serra.
The kitchen is created alongside one of the outer walls, overlooking the patio, it is the perfect morning coffee spot.
There is a bathroom with a bath that will make you want to sit in it during the whole day (come and find out why!).
A separate toilet near the kitchen and a pantry for coffee and wine at temperature near the living area, allow the hosts do receive guests for a perfect evening in the Serra. The house is suited for summer and winter season, it can be perfectly cool (airco) in summer or heated up during winter.
